Welcome to Walker Street Nursery

Located conveniently in Edinburgh’s West End, Walker Street Nursery caters for children from birth to three years. We have four play rooms which offer a flexible, enjoyable environment for 48 children, with each age group being cared for in specially designed rooms. The Team at Walker Street Nursery are professionals who provide an environment to help children learn through play. We promote their social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills which encourages them to develop their independence and initiative. We have regular weekly activities including swimming, ball skills and we also have specialists that come into nursery to teach yoga and music. We believe outings are a very important part in the children's day and our team plan regular walks to different areas in and around Edinburgh.

Our Rooms

We are a friendly team in a loving and nurturing environment who work closely with parents to provide the best possible care. The room is bright and spacious featuring areas for play, rest and feeding. The babies also love to get outdoors exploring the local parks and gardens. All the activities are carefully planned to best meet your child’s developmental needs. We encourage development through a range of activities including sensory play, story time, music sessions and baby yoga.

In the Tweenie Room we ensure your child is immersed in an active learning environment. They are continuing their journey of discovery and learning through exciting play experiences based on their interest. All the activities are carefully planned to best meet your child’s developmental needs. Our room provides sensory resources and messy areas where they can explore the world around them. We love going out on trips with the children relating to their current topic. The children enjoy small walks on foot exploring the local area and playing at the church yard.

The toddlers are active, fun and believe in bringing learning to life in rich and exciting ways. Engaging the children in their own learning whilst still balancing the nurturing care that makes them feel safe and loved. We plan monthly topics based on the observations and interests of the children. They are involved in assessing and evaluating everything they do. These topics include activities such as arts & crafts, day trips, role play and messy play.
