Baby You’re A Firework!

After seeing all the fireworks at the beginning of the month, the Pre School Children at Walker Street were excited to find out a bit more about Guy Fawkes night.

We created our very own fireworks display pictures with lots of bright colours.

It was so much fun splashing the paints around and I’m sure you’ll agree, the end result is wonderful!

Recipe Of The Week – Creamy Caprese Quinoa

2 cups cooked quinoa,

1 cup of your favourite pasta sauce,

2 tablespoons tomato paste,

1/3 cup heavy cream,

1/3 cup parmesan cheese,

1 cup mozzarella, divided,

1/2-1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved,

1 large bunch fresh basil, cut into ribbons,

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper,

Heat tomato sauce and tomato paste over low heat in a large saucepan. Once warm, stir in heavy cream, parmesan, crushed red pepper, salt and pepper. Remove from the heat and stir in the quinoa. Fold in half of the mozzarella and half of the tomatoes, then chop 6 fresh basil leaves and add them in too. Once combined, spray an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish with non-stick spray and pour the entire quinoa mixture into the dish. Top with fresh mozzarella rounds or shredded mozzarella and the remaining tomatoes.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes and then turn the broiler on and broil for 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbly.

Enjoy!

FORE!!

Early Days Nurseries were lucky enough to be invited to Prestonfield Golf Club last week for a golf session.

The children spent some time on the putting green incorporating the intrinsic motor skills of balance, aim and distance control. They also learned some technical skills of putter control and basic technique.

This was followed by a walk to the main practice area where, after a small demonstration of chipping, the children had the chance to try out some hand eye coordination and weight- transfer for themselves.

It was a fun afternoon filled with games and competitions, and you never know, it may have just set some of the boys and girls off on a path to win The Open one day!

Thank you to Scott Clark and Chris Algeo for a great day and a fantastic opportunity.

Double Double Toil And Trouble

With Halloween on its way, the toddlers at Walker Street Nursery decided to take a spooky trip to Butterfly World.

The children were very brave looking at all the creepy crawlies

We saw snakes, a centipede, a big hairy spider and lots of other interesting insects and animals.

Our own little monsters then shook off all that creepiness and had some fun in the play park!

5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 – Blast Off!

The children at Old Coates House have been very excited about our new space topic!

We have created a space station in our role play area were the astronauts have been going on adventures into space.

We are learning new facts about the planets and have visited the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars! We are learning how to create our own space stories and have had a good giggle at some of our alien characters.

Some astronauts have been using number tracks to learn numbers before and after which lead to the entrance of the space shuttle.

We are excited to share our discoveries when we land back on Earth.
