Nursery Update

Dear Parents,

Just a few updates for you this week.

All About Me Books

The children are enjoying their transition to their new rooms and as a way for the staff and children to get to know each other better, we would like to create ‘All About Me’ books for each child and have accessible for the children to share with their wee friends and get to know each other better.

I was wondering if you could help us by sending in photographs of your family with captions written in your home languages and English, so that we can begin to create these books with your children.

As we have several children from all around the world, we are hoping to increase the children’s knowledge about the variety of countries our friends are from and the languages they speak.

Photos to include could be:

  • Parent/Parents/Guardians

  • Photos of any pets at home

  • Extended family such as, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunties and Cousins

  • Photographs of family events/holidays/or family activities

  • Photos of the child playing with favourite toy, reading favourite story etc

Please could you email these to me, and we can start creating these books with the children next week.

I was wondering if any of our lovely parents are having a little clear out and would like to donate any bilingual story books to the nursery, please let me know. The nursery would be more than happy to take these off your hands.

Chicken Pox

We have had confirmed cases of Chickenpox in our Toddler and Pre School room. If your child gets Chickenpox, please can I ask that you adhere to the Health Protection Scotland guidelines and keep them away from nursery for at least 5 days after the spots appear and that all of the spots have dried up completely before returning to nursery.

I have attached information from the NHS for your information

Sickness bug

We appear to have a sickness bug going around nursery at the moment. Please can I ask that you adhere to the NHS Lothian guidance and ensure that you keep your child off nursery for 48 hours after their last bout of sickness or diarrhoea.  This will help us to contain the bug. Staff are following enhanced cleaning procedures to help combat this.

I have attached information from the NHS on vomiting bugs.

Forest Schools

Our older preschool children are having a fantastic time at Forest School and are so excited to share with their friends what they have been learning in the Forest on their return to nursery. Just a reminder to the children going each week to bring warm clothes and wellies.

Staff

Joanne and Roksana are on holiday next week therefore the staff in your child’s room will take observations of their key children and will provide you with feedback on your child’s online journal.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind Regards

Claire Allan
