Young Persons Job Roadshow

DYW-Jobs-RoadshowEarly Days Nurseries will be taking part in the Young Persons Job Roadshow at the Assembly Rooms next Friday.

The event is hosted by Developing the Young Workforce and will see a a number of employers invited to exhibit with a view to recruiting from a vast pool of school and college leavers.

This will give Early Days the opportunity to showcase our fantastic nurseries to the very people we hope to bring on board and continue to help us grow.

We are privileged to be involved such an event and we are looking forward to meeting the all young people that attend.

You can find out more about Developing the Young Workforce and what they do for young people below.

Pre School News

This month in the preschool room we have been looking at our emotions and thinking about different ways we might feel in different situations. We have been thinking about how we can help each other when we are feeling sad and who to ask for help if needed. We even had a go at making our own facial expressions!

To link in with Red Riding Hood we have been doing some simple maths games, using current buns and baskets.  The children have been looking at the terms more and less, and using these terms to describe how many current buns are in their basket.

To coincide with St Patrick’s Day, we have been looking at colours and linking them to rainbows. With this in mind, we decided to do some colour mixing. This got the children interested in some science games so we turned our baking area into a new science lab!  We are now well on our way to doing lots of exciting experiments, so far we have done colour mixing and volcano eruptions.

Can all parents please look out for our new homework challenges situated outside the room door.  The children are welcome to take a challenge home and bring back their evidence. This has already proved to be very popular.

Say Hello To Beatriz

Beatriz Monoz - Nursery PractitionerHello!

My name is Beatriz Muñoz, I am Spanish and I am 25 years old.

I have a degree in Pedagogy, the method and practice of teaching.

I consider myself an enthusiastic, friendly person. I love working with children because it gives you the immense responsibility of teaching them to be better and at the same time they teach you to grow personally and professionally.

I will use every second of my time in Melville Street Nursery to contribute my bit for these little people who will one day be our future.

Introducing Rae

Rae Prestage - Nursery AssistantHi, my name is Rae and I can’t wait to get to know everyone at Melville Street Nursery.

Before working for the nursery, I worked for Fife Council as an apprentice for Active Fife. This was a job which centred around physical activity for all age groups.

I have just started my SVQ and I am really excited to learn more about childcare.

I look forward to meeting you all.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids

active schoolIt’s that time of year and once again we are collecting Active Kids vouchers.

If we could kindly ask parents who shop at Sainsbury’s to pop any vouchers that they collect into the boxes provided in each nursery, it would be mush appreciated.

All of our nurseries benefit from these vouchers and every year the children are so excited to see what sports and cooking equipment we get donated from Sainsbury’s.

Thank You.
