Hi, my name is Rae and I can’t wait to get to know everyone at Melville Street Nursery.
Before working for the nursery, I worked for Fife Council as an apprentice for Active Fife. This was a job which centred around physical activity for all age groups.
I have just started my SVQ and I am really excited to learn more about childcare.
I look forward to meeting you all.
Our babies have been very busy lately, here is a little snapshot of the fun they have been having.
Spring is on its way and our new topic is teaching the toddlers all about animals and their babies.
The children have been enjoying seeing the animals at Gorgie Farm and hearing lots of stories at the library.
It’s that time of year and once again we are collecting Active Kids vouchers.
If we could kindly ask parents who shop at Sainsbury’s to pop any vouchers that they collect into the boxes provided in each nursery, it would be mush appreciated.
All of our nurseries benefit from these vouchers and every year the children are so excited to see what sports and cooking equipment we get donated from Sainsbury’s.
The Pre School children had an out of this world experience when they visited Dynamic Earth.
The special space tour was fantastic and the children loved getting to interact with the exhibits.
We will be celebrating Burn’s Day in nursery on 25th January.
The children will have a Burn’s Supper for tea and we have all planned Scottish themed activities appropriate for each room including Scottish music and dance, art activities and baking/food tasting.
We would also like to invite children (and staff) to wear something tartan if they have anything.
This month in Pre School we have been learning all about space and our solar system.
We have been making our own planets and have been learning some songs to help us remember new facts about each of the planets. We still have lots to to learn and are enjoying transforming our room.
Look out for sign up sheets for our upcoming trip to Dynamic Earth where we will be getting a special space tour!
