Welcome to Doune Terrace Nursery

Situated in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh, Doune Terrace Nursery caters for children from birth to 5 years, with each age group being cared for in specially designed rooms. Along with our four rooms, which are divided into Babies, Tweenies, Toddlers and Pre School, we also have a multi-purpose sensory room and a beautiful garden for the children to play and learn.

The Team at Doune Terrace Nursery are enthusiastic childhood practitioners, dedicated to helping the children achieve their optimum potential. We pride ourself on continuously advancing programmes to support the children in their social, physical and intellectual development through planning and observation; all whilst encouraging independence and initiative.

Our Rooms

We are a friendly team who work closely with parents to provide the best possible care for all the babies.The room itself features areas for play, rest and feeding along with access to our beautiful garden, where the babies can enjoy an outdoor environment.The babies also love to get outdoors exploring the local parks and gardens.

Babies Room Staff

Here in the Tweenie Room we ensure your child is immersed in an active learning environment.We plan using the Pre-Birth to Three documents and observations of the children at play to make learning fun and relevant.We love getting out of the nursery, playing in our nursery garden and visiting the local parks and museums. Our weekly yoga and music lessons are a big hit in the tweenies.

Tweenies Room Staff

We are a fun and active team and believe it is very important to keep the children active and engaged in their own learning. We love taking part in ball skills, swimming, yoga and music as well as playing and learning outdoors on a daily basis. The Toddlers are starting to help plan what they want to learn and are involved in assessing and evaluating everything they do.

Toddlers Room Staff

This is where we get ready for school, start the Curriculum for Excellence and learn all sort of exciting things. We also get out of nursery as often as possible as we believe outdoor learning is very important for the children’s development. We are a very active class and take part in forest schools, yoga, swimming, ball skills, drama, music and dance on a regular basis.
